Irrigation & Outdoor Lighting in Kenton County, KY
Serving Independence, Covington and Edgewood — three towns that need three different answers.
The widest spread of property types we work with
Kenton County runs from the river to open country, and the housing changes completely along the way. Covington is the oldest stock we touch: narrow city lots, historic brick, mature street trees and almost no room to work. Edgewood was landscaped decades ago and has grown into it. Independence is newer and sits on ground that rolls.
No single system design covers that. A quarter-acre city lot needs precision and shielding so nothing waters a neighbor; a sloped yard in Independence needs zones split by elevation so water soaks in rather than running to the bottom; a settled Edgewood lawn that is now half shade needs its zones reconsidered entirely.
What the county has in common is that most of what we see was installed by somebody else, some time ago. So the first job is usually working out what is actually in the ground before anything gets quoted.
Where we work in Kenton County
Three towns, three sets of constraints. Each has its own page.
Schedule blowouts mid-to-late October
Kenton County winterizations are generally booked for mid-to-late October, before the first hard freeze. Draining a system will not clear it: low spots, valves and heads hold enough water to split a fitting, which is why the lines get pushed clear with air.
Spring start-ups follow in April or May. On the older systems common here, that visit doubles as the annual check — it is when a winter’s worth of small damage shows itself, while there is still time to fix it before summer.

What customers say
-
Jake and his team did a wonderful job installing our irrigation system. When they were done, you could hardly see that any work had been done. Jake’s communication and follow up was excellent. Would highly recommend Jake and his company.

Kenton County questions
-
When should Kenton County homeowners winterize?
Schedule in mid-to-late October, before the first hard freeze. Once a freeze appears in the forecast the calendar fills quickly.
-
Do you service systems installed by other companies?
Yes, systems installed by any company, on all major brands including Hunter and Rain Bird. On older Kenton County properties that is most of what we work on.
-
Can you install on a small city lot in Covington?
Yes. A compact yard usually needs fewer zones, not a different approach — the work is in aiming precisely so nothing overshoots onto a walk, a wall or a neighbor.
-
Can I control the system from my phone?
Yes, on Hydrawise Wi-Fi controllers, which we install as standard on new systems and can often add to an existing one.
