Wooded ground that does not sit flat
Clermont County is the most wooded part of our service area and the least level. Lots here carry more tree cover than anywhere on the Kentucky side, and the land rolls enough that most yards shed water in a direction somebody has to think about.
Both of those change the work. Tree cover splits a lawn into sun and shade, and the two dry at completely different rates — watering them on one schedule guarantees half the yard is wrong. Grade decides where run-off collects, which on a walkout or a patio at the low point matters long before the lawn does.
So on this side of the river the drainage conversation often comes before the irrigation one, and the honest answer is sometimes that moving water away matters more than adding more of it.
Where we work in Clermont County
Milford has its own page, with more on what properties there need.
Shade complicates watering and improves lighting
Splitting sun and shade into separate zones is worth doing at design time rather than compromising with run times afterwards. Shaded turf holds water far longer, and putting it on the same zone as an open lawn is a common cause of soggy patches.
The tree cover pays it back after dark. A mature tree lit from below does more for a property at night than any number of fixtures on the house, and Clermont County has more of them to work with than anywhere else we go.

We're in a new build in Union KY and wanted to add a few extra touches to make the house even more solid. Jake came out and set up proper drainage to keep water moving away from the house, and after this weekend's rain everything worked perfectly. …

Jake was the hardest worker I have ever seen. His dedication to make sure that the irrigation system worked properly was impressive. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting an irrigation system installed.

Clermont County questions
-
When should Clermont County homeowners winterize?
In October, before the first freeze. The same visit is a good time to flag any drainage problem the fall rain has made obvious.
-
Do you fix drainage as well as irrigation?
Yes: buried downspout extensions, pop-up emitters, gravel basins and dry wells. On rolling, wooded ground that is often the more urgent job of the two.
-
Half our lawn is under trees. Can it be watered properly?
Yes, by putting sun and shade on separate zones. They dry at different rates, and a single schedule will always be wrong for one of them.
-
Do you service systems you did not install?
Yes, on all major brands including Hunter and Rain Bird, no matter who installed the system originally.
